German Wehrmacht BZE40 Brennzünder Für Eihandgranate 40 Fuze For M39 Egg Grenade And/Or M43 Stielhandgranaten Stickgrenade, 44 dbk Marked And Dated, Inert.
Very nice BZE40, (Percussion variation fuze instead of the friction BZE39), the evolution of the BZE39 friction fuze, on the BZE39 you pulled the cord and a wire "frictioned" a copper capsule inside the body and started the delay tube. On the BZE40 there is a springled striker that when you pull out the cord gets liberated and hits the delay tube. This is the fuze that you normally find on late Egg grenades and M43 stickgrenades. This doesn´t mean that the BZE39 was not used on late Eggs and M43 sticks, both were used.
These fuzes always have been hard to find even in the "Good Old Times", so guess now. I will ship it opened, when you want to screw the cap again it is good to do this: Be sure the cord is completely inside the cap and makes no resistance when turn, then with the cap ready to be screwed to the fuze body, (this is with the cord already inside the cap and touching the fuze body thread), turn few times in the air the fuze body to left, this is because for screw you must turn to right, if you turn first to left three times, (for example), when you turn after to right three times, there will be no danger the cord can be torn because the resistance. Hope you understand it.
